Election of New Provincial

Every four years the Augustinian friars in Ireland elect a new leader who is referred to as the Prior Provincial.  This man, assisted by his four councillors, is charged with guiding the members of the Irish Province, in accordance with the decisions of the Provincial Chapter.  The term of office is four years.  This year the friars have begun the process of voting for their new Provincial who will take office at the Provincial Chapter which will be held during 2013.

Please keep the friars in your prayers as they make these decisions and please also pray for the three men whose names have gone forward as candidates for the office.  As this is an internal process the names of the candidates will not be published here.  The name of the new Provincial will be announced when it is known.
