Fr Alberto Bochatey Consecrated Auxuliary Bishop of La Plata, Argentina

In La Plata, Argentina, in the magnificent neo-gothic Cathedral dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, Mons. Alberto Germán Bochatey Chaneton, O.S.A., of the Vicariate of Argentina, was ordained a bishop. He will serve as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of La Plata. The consecrating bishop was the Archbishop of La Plata, His Excellency Héctor Aguer. The co-consecrating bishops were Mons. Alfredo Zecca, Archbishop of Tucumán, and our Augustinian brother Mons. Cipriano García Fernández, O.S.A., Bishop emeritus of the Prelature of Cafayate. Accompanying them was the Apostolic Nunzio in Argentina, His Excellency Archbishop Emil Paul Tscherrig, and 35 other bishops from Argentina, Chile, and Panama. In addition, the Prior General and two members of the General Council, Augustinians from the community of the Collegio Santa Monica and San Patrizio in Rome, friars from Spain, Brazil, Chile and Mexico accompanied the Augustinians from the Vicariate of Argentina on this day of great blessing for the Order and for the Church.
Our Father St. Augustine was quoted numerous times throughout the celebration, beginning with the Papal Bull signed by the now Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI; in the homily, and in the words of gratitude expressed by Mons. Bochatey at the end of the liturgy. "He who is rich but does not have love is poor. But the poor man who has love is rich!"
