Irish Augustinians asked to return to England (1556)

On the 6th of August, 1556, the first native superior of the Order in Ireland, Fr. Maurice O'Flynn, took office and received from Prior General, Cristoforo da Padova, the request that O'Flynn send some exemplary friars to England, where the Province had been dissolved in 1539, so that the Order could recover its former status.
This would eventually lead to the friars returning to Clare Priory which was the first foundation of the Order on these islands.
